Obama already showing his inexperience
Ok, so there's plenty of reports and news articles saying that Obama is asking Bush to give help to the automotive companies. NOWHERE does anyone talk about him doing anything to anyone other than "the Big 3"... well no matter what, you can throw tons of money their direction and yeah, it may help keep them afloat for a short while, but here's something that perhaps they haven't thought of... Who's going to be able to FINANCE those vehicles they're making? NOBODY! What they need to do, is help out financial institutions somehow. No, I'm not saying a "bailout" per se, but what I am saying is to make banks and other financial institutions feel more comfortable in lending money. If the banks won't finance anyone, then 95% of the people out there (by my own guesstimate) will not be able to buy a car. So when no one can buy a car, then that means that all that money the government lends to GM or Ford or Chrysler will only let them make more cars...cars that they won't be able to sell -- which is the problem they're having right now! No one's buying because no one can buy. So if they can somehow help out the financial institutions then that will not only help the auto industry, but it will help all the credit markets too... which in turn will help people to be able to buy things they need. Plus, this will help everyone because small businesses will get their credit lines back, which means they will be able to buy supplies and pay employees to make their widgets, which means they will have more jobs and more jobs mean that people will be able to buy the different companies' widgets. So to me, logically, it seems that since it's money that makes the world go 'round, and money is frozen right now, then figure out a way to loosen the money / credit, get it flowing again, and EVERYONE (people and businesses) will benefit.
I mean, am I completely off my rocker here, or does anyone else have a better answer?

About last night's blog...
Don't let this happen! Vote for McCa.....oh, wait... the election's over isn't it? Oh well. Guess we don't have a choice anymore. Get ready to "be patriotic and pay {more} taxes" so that our hard-earned money can go to those who aren't.

What do YOU think?
Now you tell me... is this fair? Comments, please....and if you haven't figured it out yet, I'll explain it later after getting comments.

To the over 50% of people that voted for "Change" -- think again.
So why am I sooooo against a Democrat president? I'm not...I'm just against Barry "Barack" Hussein (Who's sane? Surely not anyone that voted for him) Obama. Because he's black, right? Well, that does have something to do with my point I will make later, but no, him being HALF-BLACK that has nothing to do with why I am so against him. Actually, I could care less what color he is. Its how he won, how he REALLY is and more importantly the fact that over 50% of Americans have been deceived...misled...defrauded...lied to....only those of you who voted for him are too damn stupid to realize it! Yeah, that's right -- I said it. You didn't care to do your own research into this man who you apparently think the second coming of Jesus Christ... or at least that's how the media has treated him (indisputable fact.) You didn't care about his very questionable (at best) extremely radical associations, and oh, don't forget the fact that he's going to HAVE to raise taxes, because he plans on over a TRILLION dollars in more government spending (by his own account--another indisputable fact). So what if he says he's going to give tax breaks for 95% of the middle class. Tax breaks don't do any damn good if he taxes our small businesses more (BTW -- *I* am a small business owner!) and our large corporations.
Here's a clue for those of you who support his tax plan to tax people like Exxon and other large corporations...LARGE CORPORATIONS DO NOT PAY TAXES! I mean, yes -- technically, on paper, they do. But here's how it works for those of you who have now voted this man into office because you were too damn stupid to find out for yourself what his "change" is really going to do to this country:
...what happens is let's say a specific large corporation has about a 30% profit margin on their particular widget they sell. Ok, so now here comes who used to be "Uncle Sam" (now "Uncle Barack") who is going to raise taxes on these corporations. So now, the profit margin on their widget has been cut in half because of Uncle Barack's new taxes. So, instead of smiling and "being patriotic by paying more taxes" as good ol' Uncle Joe Biden says, they're not going to let their 30% profit margin be bitten into by new taxes, they're going to offload that cost onto the consumer that buys their widget. So what does that mean? That means that their widget that used to cost $100 now cost $130! So that means that you can't buy as many as you or your company had planned on buying. So now if you or your company needs said widget, you are going to have to cut costs or simply not buy it. So what does that mean? Well, you're not the only one (or only company) that doesn't have the ability to buy that widget anymore so since you (and/or your company) isn't buying, then now, that company that makes the widget has to either cut their costs (ie, lay people off) or lower the prices of their widget which then cuts into their profits...either way, that leads to significantly lower profits, which then leads to the company's stock dropping in value...which means that the widget company who has had many people work for them for years and has (or had) quite a nice nest egg in the company's stock with their 401k now has a $4.01 k. And that's just an example of one company. Now imagine that happening to literally HUNDREDS if not THOUSANDS of companies all across the US. What's that going to do to the economy? You think the economy is bad now??? Just wait until Uncle Barack and Uncle Biden make up new taxes for the company that YOU work for...wait -- make that, the company that you used to work for because you're now laid off...all in the name of "Change."
Now, for my 2nd point about him being "black." First off, the man is not black. He is HALF black. What happened to the other half? What does that say about what he thinks about his other half?? Obviously he doesn't give a damn...all he cares about is the "black" part and nothing more. Technically, he is not the first "Black president" nor is the first "African American." I'm sorry, but most "black" people in this country are NOT "African Americans" since the majority of them are NOT from Africa. Maybe their ancestors are, but THEY are not. I have a noteable part of "American Indian" in me, so does that make me "American Indian" ?? Well, if Barack is an African American, then I guess I'm an American Indian...or even an Native Indian! Whoo-Hoo!
Anyway, let me get back to my second point. After I came home today from voting and getting my new drivers license, and working a quick job since I'm a small business owner working for myself, I turned on Fox News to see what the Election coverage was all about. So, the first thing I see is an "African American" girl saying this crap:
"I never thought this day would happen. . . .I won't have to work on puttin' gas in my car.I won't have to work at payin' my mortgage. You know.If I help him (Obama), he's gonna help me."
Here's the video:
I COULDN'T BELIEVE WHAT I WAS HEARING!!! I mean, I knew that there really are idiots in this world, but I couldn't believe that someone would actually be STUPID enough to say that on NATIONAL TELEVISION! And THESE ARE THE PEOPLE THAT SUPPORT HIM!!! These are the people that wanted him in office! These are the same kind of people that are still living in the Hurricaine Katrina FEMA issued trailers, THREE YEARS LATER driving around in their new BMW's, Caddilacs, Escallades (yes, I know it's also a Caddie) and has their big screen HD LCD TV's while receiving a government welfare check. Oh -- and don't forget, these same people, despite still living in these trailers, are also suing FEMA and the government (trying to get more free money) claiming that supposedly the trailers have high levels of formadelhyde in them and it's making them sick. You know what? I hope they do have toxic fumes in them! If it's that bad, then maybe you should get your ass out! Go get a damn job! Go get an apartment that you pay for yourself! Go get your life back! Go make a GOOD name for yourself! Quit depending on the government for handouts! Quit acting like you're a victim! You're only making yourself one. Oh wait, nevermind. You don't have to anymore. I forgot that it's STUPID PEOPLE LIKE YOU or who shares your same SOCIALISTIC views, who wants a HUGE government to give you free healthcare and give you a check (paid for with MY new, higher taxes) all because you're too lazy to go out and work.
Oh, and my other point... Here's one that people haven't thought of...and if they have, they don't have the gall to say it--but I do. It has to do with black people. No, not all black people, just the ones that, well, let's just say the ones that "regular black people" don't like either. Again, I'm not racist, I'm just intolerant. Anyway, the "regular black people" meaning the ones that don't depend on a government check, the ones that actually work for what they want, go to school, make good grades, get a good education, get a good job, make a good living, have a nice place to live, nice family, etc. it's those people who will look at this in the right way and say that not they themselves, but their ancestors would be so proud of what our country has done. The fact that our country has come so far as to elect a HALF-BLACK man as their next president. This is a very proud moment for those kinds of people and I would NEVER EVER want to take that feeling away from ANY of them. So despite my ranting and raving and talk of how "intolerant" I am about SPECIFIC kinds of people (of ALL different kinds of race, color, sex, age, whatever) I still feel good for those kinds of people that are proud for all the right reasons. However, I would also be willing to bet that those same people would NOT want a black or half-black man (or woman) to be elected president just because if their color. But that's EXACTLY what happened here. More on that in a bit.
Anyway, it's the other ones that I'm talking about now. The very small group of blacks that now feel they have been "vindicated" and also "validated" because they think "now we got a brutha in charge." The ones that will now feel that they are even more entitled to things just because there's finally "a black man in the white house." Believe me--I've seen PLENTY of those people in my lifetime. I've been around them. I know them. I can't stand them. The ones that are all "black power" and the ones that feel when they're wronged (even if 100 times out of 100 a "white man" would be "wronged" the very same way) it's automatically "discrimination" or "it's because I'm black." It's those people that even "regular black people" can't stand because then it paints all blacks with the same brush. The problem is this. Even though, like I said, it's a very small group of people that feel that way, they have a tendency to make life bad for not only "regular black people" but also a lot of other people. Because now they feel like they have extra support where they've never had it, so now they feel they can get away with more. Believe me -- I know most of you reading this are probably thinking that I'm WAY off base here, but trust me -- I have been places. I have been around these kind of people. I know they exist. I wish they didn't, but they do. I just hope that because of Obama's nomination that they don't grow to a small majority and make more people's life hell than they already do.
Well, that's all for now. I've been way too "extreme" for now. I'm sure I'll catch heat for it, but oh well. Freedom of speech, right? And I'll also say this -- I may give my opinion on things, but I also state facts. As much as people don't want to admit it, or even look up the facts for themselves, they are facts. I dare anyone to try and dispute my facts.
And one more thing -- one of Nicole's friends said it best when they said that because I voted, I reserve the right to say "I told you so" for the next four years when he does everything against what he said he was going to do... or when he runs this country further into debt and when we get attacked again on American soil because he pulls out without a victory.

"Got Mup?" Explained!
(For those of you who don't know and just for future blog reference, I have 4 daughters--two from my previous marriage to Shawna: Madilyn (Mal) age 10, and Morgan (Mo) age 8, and now two with Nicole: Hailey (2 1/2) and Caitlin (just turned 1.)
Ok, so Hailey originally called her chocolate milk, "mop"...then it became "mope"....then it became "mup" all with about a 2 week period....and mup has stuck ever since. Ok, some time later when the girls (Mal and Mo) were over here, Hailey asked for mup... and out of nowhere, Mal just came out and said "got mup?" (you know, like the "Got Milk?" commercials / advertisements?) We all got a big kick out of that quick-witted comment coming from a 10-year-old....especially me! I thought it was hilarious! So anyway, I had my blog account started WAAAAAY back at the beginning of the year... back when I thought my blogging was just going to be simple rants about local (and some national) news stories and even "green" blogs about simple recycling and all that. Well, I didn't do any blogging at all until just recently when I really got irritated with, well, if you read my blogs, then you know what I get irritated by. ;-) And as far as my original blog "alias" before it became gotmup.blogspot.com I was thinking since I am such a Star Wars nut, I came up with something like jabbatheblog.blogspot.com...it was either that or bloggerthehut.blogspot.com but I figured that most people (outside of Star Wars fans) wouldn't have a clue what it meant. So I decided to come up with something else that wasn't Star Wars related...something that was a bit more special or meant more than just showing I was a Star Wars fan. So after thinking of several different ideas (most of which were really not that good to begin with) I remembered Mal saying "Got Mup?" and so I decided to go with that. Granted, "got mup" really has nothing to do with my blog itself, but at least now you know how I came up with it.

Does anyone even read my blogs?
Stupid people!
Can ANYONE give me just one, good, VALID reason why they are voting for Obama? I mean, seriously... I'm not the only one that has given everyone plenty of reasons why he's not a viable candidate! I mean, come on... with all of his "questionable" radical associations, he can't even become an FBI agent!! What does that tell you about his character??? I'm still waiting for ANYONE to tell me what he has done that would make him a good president. I'm still waiting for anyone to say anything less dumb than "I don't know, I just want something different." Well, DUH! George W's not going to be president anymore... so no matter WHO wins, you're going to get someone different! Just because McCain is a Republican doesn't mean he's going to be EXACTLY the same as W. was, right? Oh well, I'm sure he will if you believe the Obama campaign because that's the only thing he's been selling.
Ever notice how he talks a good talk, but never has any details (rather any true details) about what he says? And not to mention, did you know (no, I'm sure you don't) that when he ran for the Illinois senate he kept telling people how he was going to lower their taxes...that's what his campaign was all about--lowering taxes. And did you know (no, you didn't) that the ENTIRE TIME he was there, he never lowered taxes??? In fact, he voted to RAISE taxes every single time he could! Remember in my previous blogs how I asked you what has this man ever done? Well, there's one thing he's done... He lied to everyone about lowering taxes and instead did everything he could to RAISE them!! But wait! Hang on a sec... hasn't he been saying this whole entire time he's been campaigning for president that he was going to lower taxes for 95% of the tax payers when he becomes president?? Sounds like a good gimmick to me! Good enough for STUPID PEOPLE to believe it. Ok, so why would anyone believe him? He's already proven that he lied about lowering taxes once before... he lied the entire time he ran for the senate seat. So why in the world would we believe him now? Can anyone answer that?
Here's proof: http://www.thedailyconservative.net/2008/10/08/obama-the-tax-man/
So, again, I'm asking anyone that still wants to vote for Obama to give me at least one good, true, valid reason why he's president material... why do you think he'll make a good president when he's already proven how radical his views are, and how he lies about important things, and how he works very hard to circumvent very important questions posed to him to talk about his background? I'm still waiting!
Afternote:
Ok, so after you've read this, anyone that still wants to vote for Obama, go right ahead. You obviously have your own reasons even if they aren't good ones. ;-) But in the meantime, let me say this--I know I get hot headed at times. I know that it's not nice to call people names. So let me say that I am not calling any one person out specifically. So don't get all upset and mad at me. It's not like I'm saying "Joe Blow you're a stupid person" to anyone. Ok? It's all good. :-)

Don't like the way the government runs things? Vote McCain!
Typically speaking it goes like this:
Republican==More for a "free market" and less government intervention...therefore, a smaller government.
Democrat==More government control of stuff. A much larger government with more government involvement in just about everything. More "spreading the wealth" -- that means the government will take YOUR money and give it to those who are lazy and don't want to work...or are in this country illegally and not paying any taxes to begin with!
So, like I keep saying, choose wisely. -- Oh, and one more thing. Ask yourself this -- what has your presidential candidate done to prove he will make a good president? Not what he might do, but what has he actually done? What has he already proven? If you can't answer about what he has already done, then what makes you believe he can do anything in the future?

"Beyond the shadow of a doubt"
Why? Well, you know how they say when in court that you have to prove "within a shadow of a doubt" that someone is guilty or not? Well, there has been PLENTY more than just a mere "shadow" cast upon him. Want some examples? I have some listed...and these are FACTS. But I don't want you to take my word for it -- do your own research and make an INFORMED decision for yourself, as you should always do when you vote for anyone!
Shadow #1:
What has he done? I mean really. Other than having the most liberal voting record in the senate proving just how far "to the left" he really is (which McCain had the best quote when he said that even he would have trouble "reaching that far across the isle..." that was just priceless!)
Shadow #2:
Bill Ayers--an unrepentant terrorist who bombed our Pentagon, a New York police station. The only reason he was never incarcerated for it is because his sleazy lawyers got him off on a technicality! When asked about in 2001, Ayers said "I don't regret setting bombs" and "I feel we didn't do enough", and, when asked if he would "do it all again," as saying "I don't want to discount the possibility."
Now Obama has been linked to him in more than one way. Is that saying he "associates with known terrorists?" Yes, but at the same time, in all fairness, it's not saying something like he's "buddy-buddy" with an active terrorist like Obama Bin Laden.... uhm, I mean Osama Bin Laden. But it is still simply put, another "shadow."
Shadow #3
Rev. Jeremiah Wright
Who is he? Well, he was Obama's preacher for 20 years... the one he looked up to for his spiritual guidance. The one that for 20 years, he sat in the pews of his church listening to things Rev. Wright was saying... things like "God damn America..." and "the U.S. of 'KKK' A" and how he preached about the 9/11 attacks as "America's chickens are coming home to roost." He also said things such as "Jesus was a poor, black man who lived in a country and who lived in a culture that was controlled by rich white people." I don't know about you, but anyone of any race that hates racism would think that what he said is a racist statement. But he didn't stop there... want to read everything he said on that day? Several months ago when Hillary was still in the race? Go to the link below and you can read the transcript and if the video hasn't been taken down, you can see it and hear him for yourself!
http://news.lavenderliberal.com/2008/03/13/barack-obamas-spiritual-mentor-rev-jeremiah-wright-jr-bashes-mythical-rich-whites-especially-italians/
Now can we prove that Barack was in the pews on that particular day when he said this? No, but you can't think for one moment that this was the only time he said this kind of stuff in all of the 20-years that Barack was in his church.
Shadow #4
His ties to ACORN and ACORN's voter fraud activities
Again, Barack Obama has been linked to another group or organization with a very shady background. The group ACORN has been under fire for forcing people to register to vote more than one time (one guy registered over 60 times) and they have also registered all the names on the entire Dallas Cowboys player roster--but in Ohio??? That in itself should immediately throw-up a red flag to ACORN.
So how is Obama tied to them? Well one way is that his campaign paid $800,000 to ACORN for "get out there and vote" efforts during the primaries. Now, does this mean that he paid them money and said "get as many people to vote for me as you possibly can?" No, but again, just another "shadow" to consider.
Shadow #5
Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac
Did you know that Barack Obama was the 2nd highest recipient of money from Fannie Mae? (Dem. Chris Dodd was #1) So why was he given so much money from them? Why did they put so much into his campaign? Makes no sense to me... the collapse of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac is at the focal point of why people think we are in a recession...or why our economy is as bad as it is...and yet Barack Obama gets tons of money from them. One would want to know why? What is it that they get if he is elected? Not to mention, Franklin Raines of Fannie Mae. As an executive at Fannie Mae, Franklin Raines illegally coerced his employees to falsify accounting facts so he’d get a maximum bonus. And now he's one of Obama's campaign advisers? Sounds like a good candidate for a "shadow" to me!
Shadow #6
Tony Rezko
So who is Tony Rezko? He's Obama's neighbor and by Obama's own words was also "a friend and former fundraiser" who was recently convicted of fraud and corruption. I know that people make mistakes and poor judgement calls, but still. He's yet another "shadow" to Obama.
So, just with these few "shadows" that I have pointed out, and again, they are all 100% true facts and I want you to check them out for yourself if you have any doubts of their validity) you have to wonder about Obama's judgement. He thinks he's a good judge of character, and yet on more than one occasion he's said "he's not the person I once knew." So just how many people did he once know that he doesn't know anymore that isn't who they used to be? It's not just one "shadow" that anyone needs to be afraid of. It's not even two or three... but here I have listed AT LEAST SIX known, factual "shadows" that should be more than enough to cast "beyond a shadow of a doubt" for anyone.
Ok, look. I know people make mistakes in their lives that they regret. And I know that a lot of people have friends that have made mistakes in their past. But you have to wonder about people who surround themselves with this many people who are involved in scandals, fraud, racism and hate, just to name a few things. And this isn't even the complete list!
All I'm saying is not to vote for Barack Obama because he's popular...or because he promises change (everyone always promises change.) Or because he's black (technically, he's only half-black, so technically, he will NOT be our first "African-American" president if he happens to make it into office.) And for God sakes, don't vote for ANYONE that you haven't researched for yourself to see where they stand! I don't care if you vote for McCain or Obama. That's what makes this country great! But I want you to vote for someone that mirrors your beliefs and values.

Welcome to the Recession
noun
1. The state of the economy declines; a widespread decline in the GDP and employment and trade lasting from six months to a year
Ok, who here thinks we're in a recession, please raise your hand? Wow... ok, who here believes we're not in a recession? Hmm.... no one believes we're not? Oh, wait -- you in the back... who are you? Oh -- you're with the government. No wonder you don't think we are. Ok, so my question to you is, why is the government so unwilling to admit what everyone else already KNOWS? I mean, after all, one of the president's top economic advisers finally came out and said that "parts" of the country were showing signs of a recession... Come on! It's not like it's a 4-letter word that no one wants to utter. Stand up and tell people really how it is. Just get the gall to stand up and say "yes, all signs show that we are in fact in a recession. We are aware of the problems people and businesses are facing right now and we are working diligently with all of our economic advisers to find out the best course of action that will have the most positive effect for everyone. Please be patient and do not panic or worry. Things will work out in a way that's best for everybody."
There -- I wrote your line for you...now someone "grow a pair" get out there on television and tell the American people what we're all waiting to hear from our leaders. We all know it, but we just want to hear you say it.
So THIS makes it's the president's fault?
So anyway, I asked someone that question and got this answer... He said that Bush loosened up the government regulations on corporations and because of that, businesses did a lot of extra stuff that they previously weren't allowed to do and that's why we're here. Well the point of loosening the restrictions is that it's supposed to be better for everyone--because when businesses do better, everyone does better. It was supposed to help out the free market and have healthy competition amongst different companies. Like for example, deregulating the electric companies was supposed to create a competitive market and lower our electric rates. Instead, what has happened? Our rates have gone up over 50% since deregulation! So who's fault is that? Is it the president's fault? Did he make the electricity cost more? Of course not. Did he make banks and investment companies give people with horrible credit a home mortgage that they wouldn't be able to pay in a few years? No he didn't. So what happened? A business that does well are good for everyone because they create jobs and wealth (not just for the CEO's, but for their employees. Well, in reality, that one statement is true...A business that does well is good for everyone. (Take note of that, Obama.) However, what happened is you got several GREEDY CEO's and business owners that they ended up screwing people over to make their own wallets fat and not worrying about whether or not someone can pay their mortgage because they already got their money--and they already made their bonuses, and they already got their "Golden Parachute" ready. So again, even though I got an answer, it's not a good one... so just as Sean Hannity is still waiting for someone to tell him what Barack Obama has done that would prove that he would make a good president, I'm still waiting for someone to show me why this economic crisis is George W. Bush's fault.
I don't get it...
Anyway, tax breaks for the middle-class sounds great considering most of you reading this blog are "middle-class" (financially speaking -- myself included.) I'm all for tax breaks. So instead, Osama wants to raise taxes on the companies people work for and make them pay MORE money?? That's such a wonderful idea! Raise taxes on companies who employ people, and do it during a time where just about every company is struggling to keep afloat! Why didn't McCain think of that? BECAUSE IT'S BACKWARDS THINKING! What happens to a company that's having a very difficult time staying afloat already in a struggling economy that now has to pay A LOT more in taxes? They have to cut back on costs! This includes, cutting back on benefits (and no, not just healthcare benefits) but also cutting back on STAFF! That's right! They have to lay people off! Look at the airlines, for example. No one can afford to fly to begin with, so what do they do? They raise fees! What happens then? Now, even less people can afford to fly! So now they're making even less money, so they have to cut back on staff since they can't afford to pay them. Now they're unemployed along with thousands of others... so now what good is a tax break going to do for them? If they're not working, then they're not paying taxes, right? Yeah... let's raise taxes on corporations... what a great idea!

Blame the president!...everyone else wants to!
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Throughout American history it has always been easy for some to blame our presidents for everything that could possibly go wrong in America and for that matter around the world. The reason they blame our presidents is because they believe one man has total control of the nation. They somehow think our presidents have the ability to look into the future and make new laws that will prevent new catastrophes from ever occurring. They forget unless the president has total control of everything our Congress does, he cannot make any new laws. The one area the President has the most power in is conducting foreign policy and even here when it comes to treaties and war he has his limitations. In today's election climate everything known to man has been blamed on one man--President Bush. Senator Obama has said Bush is at fault for invading Iraq and consequentially fighting a loosing war that has made America less safe. Senator Obama has blamed President Bush for mishandling everything in New Orleans during hurricane Katrina. Senator Obama has blamed President Bush for the downturn in the American economy. And now Senator Obama is trying to scare the American people into believing Senator McCain is some kind of clone of President Bush and that Bush's "failed politics" will continue in a "third term" with a McCain presidency.
Here are some facts:
Every Ally and our American Congress believed Saddam Hussein had to be replaced and voted to forcibly remove his regime. Obama had the luxury of not being in the Senate at the time and did not have to vote. Considering his record of voting over 90% in concurrence with his party we have to wonder if he would have voted yes like most of his party, or went against the popular decision at the time and voted no. During his Democratic Primaries, at the time he was belittling Sen Clinton for her vote on the war, he was quoted as saying:
"I think what people might point to is our different assessments of the war in Iraq," Obama said at the time, "although I’m always careful to say that I was not in the Senate, so perhaps the reason I thought it was such a bad idea was that I didn't have the benefit of U.S. intelligence."
Was the war mishandled, probably so. Just like President Lincoln had to find his General Grant, President Bush had to find his General Patraeus. What makes Senator Obama think he is smarter than the generals we train to fight our wars? I know--it must be all of the intense military training and experience he has had fighting in past wars.
Has the war ended in Iraq, no. Are we winning in Iraq, yes. Will Al Qaeda try to make another comeback with spectacular attacks in Iraq in order to sway our Nov elections, I hope not, but probably. Will Obama use it to say, "See I was right. The war is lost, we must reduce our forces and leave the fighting to the Iraqis." Absolutely he will!
After hurricane Katrina, Senator Obama and the media blamed everything that went wrong in New Orleans on President Bush. In Senator Obama's world the President has total control of every governor and mayor in America. At the time, Obama seemed to think all state and local decisions were made at the federal level by the President. He somehow thought the President personally ran every department of the government and all decisions including where to stage buses that would be used for evacuations. With the last two hurricanes Obama has refused to congratulate President Bush on how well these disasters have been handled or admit that with different governors and mayors we sometimes have a completely different outcome to similar disasters.
Senator Obama has now began to use a line from President Reagan's first presidential campaign. (That's kind of ironic, isn't it?) Obama is asking, "Are you better off now than you were eight years ago?" For the first six years most Americans would answer yes. Since the 2006 election (when the Democrats took over congress) the economy started a slow decent and with sharp increases in the price of energy over the last year and the housing market bubble bursting, most Americans have experienced hard times making ends meet. Before oil hit $140 a barrel and gas prices went over $4.00 a gallon, the unemployment rate was under 6%. With the cost of fuel effecting everything the results have been:
a) industry has cut back
b) consumers cannot afford to spend money on nonessential products / services and
c) the unemployment rate went over 6%.
During this time Congress has been controlled by Democrats Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid. Starting in 2007 the president asked Congress to open up America to more drilling and free ourselves from foreign oil. Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid and most in the Democratic-majority Congress said no. They said we know where the oil is and we have given 68 million acres, drill there. The experts told Congress there is not enough oil in these leases to make it worth drilling for, let us drill off the coast in the same area Cuba and China are getting ready to drill, and yet Congress is still saying no. As their position became more unpopular Democrats started to rebel against their leaders. Nancy Pelosi told them, "that's OK let me take the blame for not allowing a vote on drilling. I will be re-elected you will get re-elected and we still will not allow drilling." After Senator Obama started to drop in the polls over his position on oil, he magically now embraces "limited drilling" and Pelosi says she will allow some bills to come before the House. Now they are working on a bill in the Senate but neither will have a chance before the Congress adjourns.
The effects of this Democrat controlled and led "Do Nothing Congress" are now being seen in our economy. For two years they have made a lot of promises but stood by and watched as our economy began its decent into dangerous territory. For two years they criticized and blamed the President for everything, yet they have not sent one single Bill to the President that addresses the real issue--the cost of energy. As the speculators bail out of the oil market, due to investigations of market manipulation and cutbacks in demand for oil, the price of oil fell below $96 a barrel. With the recent hurricane Ike greed has resurfaced in the form of gasoline price gouging and Congress, Pelosi and Reid remain silent. The refineries were undamaged but gasoline in the Southeast and along the East coast have sky rocketed overnight. The media and some governors say its due to companies speculating there will be gas shortages later on. (And speculators helped inflate the price of oil too.) Meanwhile these companies are seeing higher and higher profits from these price increases and the consumer is getting hosed. President Bush has warned price gouging will be prosecuted and placed getting the refineries back on line a top priority.
The question Senator Obama should be asking is will Americans be better off with a Pelosi, Reid, Obama government rather than with a McCain/Palin government. In November the American voter will answer this question and this "Do Nothing Congress" will be in for a big surprise. Two years of doing nothing but trying to run and win another election has worn very thin with the American public. And change is coming...and Democrats will not like the results!

I'm too opininated NOT to blog about this!
Just like a failing economy isn’t the president’s problem to fix, neither is a failing business…no matter how much it’s worth, and no matter what market it’s in, it should never be “rescued” by the government. Let it fail like every other company out there. That's all part of business! When the leaders / owners / CEO’s of any given business / company devise a scheme that allows them to get more money (for themselves and for selfish, greedy reasons) by employing shady business practices or giving bad people bad loans, they’re screwing the very people that put their trust in them and helped really build the company in the first place--this means the people who work in the company (i.e. the ones that really do all the work while the CEO’s get fatter wallets) the people that purchase their goods, or use their products and services, every day people like you and I, and not to mention their very own stockholders. And this time, while their pocket books are getting fatter and fatter, their corporate spending goes through the roof, their houses increase in size (and in number) along with uber extravagant purchases simply “because they can,” their company is heading in a downward spiral that will soon cause it to fail as we’ve seen so often in the last few weeks (and there’s more to come!)
Ok, so now the government steps in and rescues these companies—now what? Now those same corporate fat cats get HUGE severance packages (literally millions of dollars) when they’re kicked out…WHY??? Why are literally MILLIONS of MY tax dollars going to someone that already has millions of dollars to begin with AND got their million by screwing companies and people out of their money in the first place? None of this makes sense! And yet it’s all the president’s fault??? I’m still waiting on someone to tell me why. Those corporate fatcats need to be held accountable! Don't let them off with a massive severance package equal to many times my LIFETIME income!
The sad part is that it’s something that will never change because “money is the root of all evil”—or so you think, right? It’s so funny how many people mis-quote that. The real saying is:
International Standard Version (©2008) 1st Timothy 6:10 says:
For the love of money is a root of all kinds of evil. Some people, in their eagerness to get rich, have wandered away from the faith and caused themselves a lot of pain.
